Security
Encryption
Encryption scrambles your data to make it unintelligible to anyone not having the unique encryption key. It safeguards your data while being transferred and stored offsite. 24sevenbackup offers 8 types of encryption from which to choose. DES is used by the U.S. Federal Banking system. The default, Blowfish, has not been known to have been broken by a hacker. Whichever you choose, only you have the unique key to your data. Be sure to take a copy of it and keep it safe, as even 24sevenbackup cannot access your data without it.
You do not need to know anything about encryption to use 24sevenbackup. The system generates an encryption ‘key’ for you. If you need to restore data, the client software on your machine knows the ‘key’ and can restore data without reference to your safeguarded copy. The copy is needed for disaster recovery if you experience a hard disk failure.
Data Verification
Your data is verified twice during the backup processing. The first verification is to ensure that the data that is encrypted and compressed is an exact copy of the data you requested to be backed up. The second verifies that the file transferred to 24sevenbackup is an exact copy of the encrypted and compressed file created by the software on your computer.
Both of these processes happen automatically, each time the backup software executes. They require no user interaction.
Secure Server
Your backups are sent offsite to a secure data centre. Your data is managed by Xeon processors running MS Windows 2003 Server. The systems are protected by industry standard Firewall and Antivirus protection. The 24sevenbackup web site is hosted separately from the backup servers. Access to the servers is strictly controlled both by software protection and security controlled access to the server facility. Return to Top
Additional Offsite Backup
For added protection, each day your encrypted data is copied from the Server to portable media and transferred to a secure offsite location. Return to Top
